Oh, the things you can do with a shoe!

Most people use shoes for their intended purpose. Shoes are for wearing, of course, and there are so many kinds: tennis shoes, Sunday shoes, sandals, flip flops, ballet slippers. Some people like me, like to use shoes for squashing bugs. And, if you're Aubrey, the four pairs of shoes in your closet, along with a stray tap shoe and Elmo slipper, are just the right size to make really great beds for your Polly Pocket Princesses.

She was being as meticulous and fair as any four year old would be: Each Polly Pocket got one of her shoes for a bed, along with the dress they were wearing. And each of them got a pair of tiny Polly Pocket shoes, most of them matching each other, and each got hair, not necessarily theirs (except for Belle, whose hair is unfortunately not removable). And, Aubrey wanted to assure that Polly Pocket bedtime not be as scary so she alloted each of them one toy to be tucked in with them in their cozy little shoe beds.

The only preferential treatment that was given, was to Aubrey's favorite, Cinderella. The Cinderella Polly Pocket is kind of spoiled, having a history of getting the best of everything in Aubrey's mind. She gets the Cinderella body, but with Aurora's beautiful golden hair and crown, and her famous pink dress. If there are any pairs of matching shoes that are pink, she gets those too. Cinderella usually gets preferential treatment, on account of Aubrey's bias, and so it was no surprise that she got plush accomodations in the Elmo slipper, while the rest of the Pollys got the less comfortable sandals, loafers, and ballet slippers. She's tucked in the Elmo slipper so snugly that you can't even see her in this picture. But trust me, she's there.

Aubrey was pretty proud of her work, as you can see from the top picture, and was reluctant to put everybody away in their rightful place at toy pick up time. Nevetheless, she did, but I wouldn't be surprised if they came back out tomorrow and put in her shoes again. After all, there are so many other fun uses for shoes than their intended purpose.

I was always a little more preferential to Belle myself, but if it were me, Belle would definitely have gotten the plush Elmo shoe. She has got to be the most imaginitive little girl I know. Too cute~!

That is so cute. Don't you love the things that they come up with at this age. They are very creative! By the way. You will have to email the dress up pictures. I know Eric would love to see Ethan in his pretty dress-up.
