Aubrey's swimming lessons

Aubrey just finished swimming lessons with Grammie last week. She did so great, and she is getting a lot more comfortable in the water. She built on the skills she learned last summer, as well as learned how to swim under the water, and how to dive off the side. She was a little nervous about swimming underwater, but got better at it after lessons were over and it was she and I practicing in the pool. Even with all her new skills, she still prefers floating and swimming around the pool with a swim ring. We did have a accidental test of skills one day last week when she jumped into the deep end from the side still thinking she had a swim ring around her waist. She came up sputtering, and managed to swim her way to the steps. It gave her a scare but I'm sort of glad she realized she's not invincible.

It's all very elementary, this diving, but at least she is gaining confidence and building skills. Maybe next summer, we'll see her diving from a standing up position. We'll see.
