A smile?

I thought on Baby Brother's two month birthday, I ought to give him some credit. Despite the fact that from time to time, we have called him Mr. Rain Cloud or Grumpy Bear, because he often seems unhappy, he really is a happy guy most of the time. And he does smile! But his smiles are somewhat elusive. We feel very gratified when we do get to see his eyes light up and see that smile cross his face and know that he is happy. We go great lengths-- dancing, making strange noises and silly faces, nothing is off limits-- to observe this rare occurrence. I myself am amazed at the the degree of silliness we are unashamed to go to to see our cute boy give us a grin. Since we find his smiles hard to come by, we have wanted to document them when they do happen. This has proved to be a tricky venture, because the smiles don't last long. This picture was supposed to be one of him smiling, for all the world to see. He was laying there happily on the couch, and he was smiling at me. ("was" being the operative word, and unfortunately in the past tense). But in the time it took for the picture to take, it was gone, not to return. Oh well. We think he's cute anyway. Rest assured, we'll keep on dancing silly dances and singing silly songs all the while clicking the camera until we get one of those priceless gummy grins for posterity.

He is so cute, even without the smile. I would love to be a fly on the wall and witness all the dancing and funny faces! These days I could use a good laugh!!
